Video clip 1 shows the arms dragging you down -but this is only a symptom of the pelvic tilt/postural problem. Both clips 1 and 2 (arms corrected) show that angulation is happening in the lower back instead of at the hip joints.
Development work today was mostly centred on fall-line skiing and controlling speed. Technically this involves developing sideslipping, pivoting and pole planting plus control of rotation which partly comes from using the adductors of BOTH legs to free up the hip joints.
When skiing with dynamics the use of the inside leg adductors improved the overall stance and increased the dynamic range – but this revealed that angulation is mainly taking place in the lower spine and it has to be isolated to the hips only. We looked at some body management (pelvic tilt/neutral pelvis) and pulling back the supporting hip for skating.
