We had a strong day of skiing again. Later on we worked more methodically on sorting out Compression Turns and Leg Retraction timing issues.
- Feet together (single platform for pivoting)
- Pulling adductors of both legs together
- Weight on ski pole
- Face downhill (leading with the pelvis) and bend forward at the hips
- Flex the knees as far as you can manage – even more that 90° if you can
- Move the Centre of Mass (CoM) downhill between the ski tips and the ski pole
- place weight strongly on the ski pole
- Pull (swing) the ski tips laterally with the body (CoM) in towards the ski pole
Turning to Derin’s right the upper body was rotating into the turn to twist the skis – thus causing difficulties. The left turns were much better with the Centre of Mass just being moved downhill and no twisting. See the following photo to see the twisting of the upper body…
