Derin day 3

The day began with a trip to the top of the Grand Motte where we concentrated on developing compression turns on actual bumps – including the black bumps down the Laisse piste. Derin still has the legs extending when they should be retracting so we need to persist with this in small doses each day until the change is made.

Worked primarily today on upper body activity and integrating it with the leg work. The goal was to make the whole body active and working through the core (this is on top of what we have been constructing previously).

  1. Foot forward technique (pushing the outside foot forward)
  2. Hip Angulation (drawing the outside hip in the turn backward)
  3. Pulling the inside foot backward
  4. Twisting the rib cage into the direction of the turn
  5. Punching the uphill arm forward over the downhill ski during the turn transition

Most importantly we found the best chips in l’Espace Killy (so far) are in the Tovière restaurant.
