Today Chris and I went on a 55km loop – from Albertville, uphill towards Beaufort then cutting across the Col de la Froclaz and down to Ugine then up a long 2.4% gradient up to Faverges and then climbing up to the Col de Tamié – arriving an hour ahead of the Criterium riders and before the large contingent of gendarmes could stop us on the road. I filmed the passage with my Sony Z1 compact phone – not bad video for a telephone!
I was impressed by the speed of the riders and the numbers of vehicles supporting them… Froome wins this stage in the end.
Next day – Sunday and Chris Froome wins the final stage and the overall victory in the Dauphiné in classic style – being 18 seconds behind in second place he wins by 18 seconds exactly!
