Ruth, Charlotte, Lucas, Nick – day 1

Video taken before working on technique

Delays in opening up due to the previous day’s storms generated huge queues. Given this situation our focus was placed on the introduction to a general cross section of technical issues and specific exercises – instead of skiing. Those things have to be covered anyway so the time would be spent usefully even if not ideally.

Everyone is a strong skier and the different characteristics are all responses to not having been taught dynamics or pivoting skills. There’s no point in picking out “faults” – everyone now should just work at developing new skills which will completely override all other issues. There were some good improvements during the first session but due to the battles with lift queues there was no opportunity for filming again.

Both “Pivot” and “Dynamics” have the exercises and teaching process documented in this blog on fixed pages accessible from the buttons at the top of the page.
