Derin Day 9

Slalom
First time on the Bonnevie Stade GS course. With no previous race training experience and very hard packed snow on a “black” run gradient Derin was automatically well inside “silver” ranking. She was unable (naturally) at this stage to commit to actually carve in the course – that comes only with experience and practice at choosing the right line – ideally building up experience on less steep terrain first. Derin has a great attitude and she attacked the course initially – until she realised the course would attack her back! That’s why we race train!

Carve
Refining the stance on the skis – keeping the feet closer together and adjusting the inside knee position by getting lower to the ground with the hip instead of just pulling the knee across with the adductor muscles.

Short Turns
More pole plant needed to get the body out of each turn – but body management still great.
