Alex day 1

It’s ALL about driving the centre of mass! The two best runs of the day were when the centre of mass was launched downhill with the uphill leg extension. The “rebound” brought you forward (at 10 and 11 seconds into the video) and onto the fronts of the skis instead of a “tail stivot” as in the following photos (which is jamming on the brakes)…

When you stivot you cannot propel your centre of mass with an impulse from the uphill leg – so you cannot “connect” with the function of the ski or the body for that matter – or even accurately direct the centre of mass. This gets you stuck “back” and working too much in the vertical plane – skis mainly on their tails and determined to continue sideways.

When you get a proper rebound and launch into the next turn it compliments an uphill leg extension because you are still working in 3D and the front of the ski swings into the turn on edge and bites. The “swing” itself is more in 3D also – not just a flat ski but going from edge to edge in the air.
